Built by Higgins Industries, the LCM3 Landing Craft could deliver a 30 ton tank---but was mainly used as a troop and cargo transport. They first saw action on Tarawa in 1943, but also delivered deadly cargo to the shores of the Mediterranean and North Atlantic during the Invasion of Normandy. The Forces of Valor 1/72 scale Higgins LCM3 Landing Craft is constructed almost entirely in plastic, which allows for maximum detailing such as that seen in the simulated welding seams and diamond plate top surface. The inside of the hull is exceptionally accurate, with separately applied life preservers, cargo securing rings, maintenance hatches with individual rivets and textured decking. The movable bow ramp has a diecast metal bow plate that snaps securely into place when closed. There are two movable 50 caliber machine guns next to the pilot house and a hand-painted figure at the controls. Twin rudders and screws can be seen on the underside of the model.
